Opening ImageTBDTom at his wife’s funeral. He’s left alone with his Son.
Theme StatedTBDAs Tom and Son are walked by Tom’s Sister at the airport on their way to Seattle, Tom says something along the lines of: “It doesn’t happen twice.” This is regarding love, and is prompted when his Sister implies that soon enough he’ll start dating again.
SetupTBDBy page ten Tom and son are in Seattle, and things haven’t changed much; Tom is still broken hearted. Also, we’ve met Meg, who is about to marry his fiance. But a conversation she has with her mom while trying her grandmother’s wedding dress makes her doubt she’s found real love. Then, she hugs her mom and the dress rips. Is it a sign?
CatalystTBDTom’s son calls the radio station. Tom opens up on the radio for everyone to hear, including Meg! Who’s now having SERIOUS doubts about marrying her fiance. She wants love like Tom had with his wife.
DebateTBDI think the question raised in the debate is from Meg; “Should she settle for what she has with her fiance? Or should she risk it all for real love?”
Break Into TwoTBDThis beat to me happens AFTER B Story –they order is inverted. Break into two happens the day after Tom opened his heart on the radio. At work everybody knows! He starts wondering about dating again. “What’s it like out there nowadays?”
B StoryTBDWe meet Meg’s friend played by Rosie O’Donell. The B-story in this movie is basically Rosie encouraging Meg to chase REAL love. At some point she even does more than encouraging; she sends a letter that she had started writing but wasn’t going to send to Tom and Son!
Fun and GamesTBDThe fun and games are basically when Tom starts dating Victoria and Tom’s Son hates her; he wants Meg! Son (with his new “girlfriend”) plots how to bring Tom and Meg together. At the same time, Meg is more and more obsessed with Tom. She does background checks and hires a detective to spy on him...
MidpointTBDTom’s Son sees him kiss Victoria! “Oh no, he’s falling for her.” He calls the radio station in a panic. Meg hears this. She may lose Tom forever! THE STAKES AREA RAISED.
Bad Guys Close InTBDWhile Victoria and Tom are getting more serious, Meg is felling silly about dreaming about Tom. Nevertheless, she pretends to write a story about radio shows so she can fly to Seattle to meet Tom...
All Is LostTBD...But when she gets there, she sees Tom and Son hugging their Sister/aunt, and confuses her for someone Tom may be seeing. “She’s lost him!” Nevertheless, they have a moment when she stops crossing the road and almost gets run over by a truck (WHIFF OF DEATH).
Dark Night of the SoulTBDMeg feels stupid for having gone on this adventure.
Break into ThreeTBDTom’s Son goes to NYC to meet Meg at the top of the Empire State building. Meg realizes she doesn’t really love her fiance. She breaks up with him.
FinaleTBDTom flies to NYC to get his son. They all meet on top of the Empire State Building. The lovers are finally united!
Final ImageTBDTBD Tom holds Meg’s hand. Real love CAN happen twice!
